Cologne

Cologne is a very popular destination for School Trips and excellent for schools looking for a German Language theme to their school trip.

Just six hours from Calais, we can offer you a cosmopolitan city which is complemented perfectly by our excellent excursion programme and fantastic accommodation options. Home to Germany’s most visited monument – its world–famous gothic cathedral built over 632 years – Cologne is key to any school tour of the Rhineland and is ideal for a school visit to the Christmas Markets. Here the festive spirit comes alive as you wander through the city’s five Markets.

Sample German specialities such as Glühwein, Stollen and Lebkuchen as you amble through the stalls in front of the Dom, or head to the medieval market for a sense of a bygone age where you can see the donkeys and goats in their stalls and the blacksmith and medieval trades people at work.

Located on the banks of the Rhine, Cologne has been a major city and trading centre since Roman times. See evidence of the city’s great history in the layout of its Roman roads and water systems, the old town wall, the remains of the three Magi in the Cathedral and the medieval old town reconstructed after its destruction in World War 2. More recently, Cologne has become a media capital and its vibrant culture makes it the number one carnival centre in Germany.

Alternatively, groups can visit the Phatasialand amusement park. This vibrant and exciting park is reknowned not only for its rides but also for it’s wide variety of shows, which make this park a uniquely German experience. Click here to visit their website.
