Futuroscope and Poitiers

The Futuroscope Pavilion, which symbolises the park, makes Futuroscope one of the most distinctive landmarks on the French landscape. Since its opening in 1987, the park has grown substantially year on year both in the size and number of attractions offered, and in the number of people of all ages who visit the park each year.

Known as “the European Park of the Moving Image”, Futuroscope has always been at the very forefront of technology, often indeed helping to push forward the barriers of what was believed to be possible. Attractions include the enormous Imax 3D Cinema, the 360° Cinema and the High Resolution Cinema, but the shows, like the park itself, are constantly changing and evolving, which is why so many people return to the park again and again.

Language is never a barrier (indeed your Schools Into Europe tour price includes your own English–speaking hostess/guide), and it is a fascinating place for a school visit at any time. One of the highlights is the evening laser show (not on every day) – once seen, never forgotten!
The nearby town of Poitiers also shows evidence of having changed and evolved over the centuries, having been held at various times by the Romans, the Visigoths, Franks, Muslims, Normans and English. The town’s historic architecture includes Roman amphitheatres and churches and homes dating to the 4th century and the Renaissance. It is the capital of the interesting and varied Vienne Department, and the relaxed atmosphere of its cafés, shops and parks will be enjoyed by all.
