The German Rhineland

The Rhine is a very popular destination for School Trips and excellent for schools looking for a German Language theme to their school trip.

With a history and traditions dating back to Roman times, the beautiful Rhineland is rich in music and legends, often based on its fairy–tale castles which are dotted among the vineyards and, occasionally, in the Rhine itself.

Fascinating mediæval villages with half–timbered houses and cobbled streets line the banks of Europe’s longest and busiest river, which has featured strategically throughout history, most recently when the Germans constructed the defensive Siegfried Line (named after the German folk hero) during the Second World War.

The lovely Mosel Valley which meets the Rhine at the Deutsches Eck at Koblenz is a much quieter winding waterway, surveyed by hilltop watchtowers and lined by pretty wine villages that have their Oktoberweinfest.

Alternatively, groups can visit the Phatasialand amusement park. This vibrant and exciting park is reknowned not only for its rides but also for it’s wide variety of shows, which make this park a uniquely German experience. Click here to visit their website.
