SCHOOL TRIPS TO BRITTANY
Brittany epitomises the rural French ideal and is a marvellous destination for a school trip. From the hustle and bustle of the port and market towns, to the old-world tranquility of the villages which are dotted throughout the countryside, Brittany’s provincial charm is sure to delight pupils and teachers alike. Located on the northwest tip of France, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the English Channel, Brittany is full of beautiful beaches and fishing villages, and has fought to preserve its unique cultural identity. Indeed, Breton is a Brythonic Celtic language, and in addition to French school trips, central Brittany is a fantastic destination for those studying Welsh, with which Breton shares many similarities. Further east is the picturesque town of St Cast, with its long sandy beach, which, set against a background of wooded hills, arcs upwards from the port to the old quarter along winding cobbled streets, from which you can look out onto the many rocky islands in the bay. The town is also ideally positioned to enjoy the adjacent peninsula with its six beaches and Cap Fréhel.
SCHOOL GROUP EXCURSIONS
Mont St Michel
Pass through the border town of Brittany, Dol-de-Bretagne, with its twelfth century cathedral, range of shops and Saturday morning market, en route to the majestic Mont St Michel. Dominated by the Gothic Abbey at its peak, Mont St Michel has recently been subject to an extensive ecological conservation programme which has restored its island status and, although located (just) within the borders of Normandy, is a ‘must-see’ visit for all parties visiting Brittany. The Grand Aquarium, St. Malo
An exhibition unique in Europe – the latest generation of aquaria. Come face-to-face with sharks from within the 600,000 litre sea-water tank. Enjoy the spectacular range of sealife, in addition to which there are numerous cultural and educational displays and an open-air touch pool. An optional addition to your visit is the “Nautibus”, a unique submarine experience in which you enter into mini-submarines – this is great fun and highly recommended! Of course, the above excursions are only a sample. We will tailor-make your tour to engage with your exact learning requirements, and our information packs contain details of our extensive excursion package. Why not contact us now to request more information?
